Happy Thanksgiving!
New products from Pacific Trading are out and they were well worth the wait. There's 5 resin boxes, a pewter box, a waterglobe and 3 mirrors. The round ones are little jewelry boxes (those are just the lids). I have added some of them to my site in time for the holidays - Figurines and Collectables
There's also a few sets of Christmas/Yule cards in my Etsy Shop.

Magic Pumpkin ACEO
Here's another picture that I drew this weekend,
Still working on more paintings of course:)
I started reading Saimain's first book: The Rover's Cripple this weekend. I've had it for a couple years but it kept getting put on the bottom of the huge stack of books that need to be read. I was hooked right away, which is great because I've had a hard time getting into books lately.
Last night I made apple pie and watched Mansfield Park and really enjoyed it, compared to the last Austen I'd seen (Persusion, which bored me)
Fallcon is this weekend. I don't think I have anything comic related to sell right now so I may have to put a mini book together or reprint something last minute. I've been working on putting a book together by Anime Detour (but that's in March and not going to get done any earlier), and have redrawn an entire chapter and inked 8 pages this week.
My dad is speaking at the Minneapolis Central Library Saturday as part of a Thoreau Society Conference. I'll be at Fallcon so I can't go.

tag
Summersea from Etsy tagged me. So I have to post 6 random things about myself:
1. Everything in my living room is red and green (but no it doesn't look Christmasy at all since they are not bright colors).
2. I'm a huge procrastinator. What do you think I'm doing now?
3. I love gyouza/potstickers (Japanese/Chinese dumplings). I usually buy them frozen but I have tried making homemade gyouza twice this year. They were good, only both times I have messed up when it came to freezing them. The first time they stuck together and the 2nd time I tried putting plastic wrap between layers but they still freeze together. So next time I will freeze them all on a pan before putting them in a container.
here is the recipe: http://www.liu-family.org/potsticker/, but they are also good with spinach instead of cabbage.
4. I have a weak spot for costumes. The only problem is it takes me ages to finish them or I buy them and I am just not in the mood to alter them when they don't fit. So I have 1 costume and another skirt which will probably sit for months until I decide to finish them.
5. I've been watching Stargate SG1 almost every night for a couple months and now I'm on season 5.
6. I have a HUGE tea collection. Im not kidding. It covers half a kitchen cabinet and several tins on the back of the stove.

painting grass
For other painters out there. You may have to be certifiably nuts want to try it, but there's a couple nice write ups on how to paint grass like John-Howe,
John's explaination, and a nice visual tutorial someone made from it.
I get the urge to do it every once in awhile. I do not really follow the tutorial since I hate masking fluid. It's fun and aggravating at the same time, but really satisfying when done right. This time it's not a commission, but the grass is the most complicated thing in the picture.

hmmm
I was thinking I should perhaps write something more interesting here if I'm going to be linking the same things from my website after the new design.
Since I have been a little bored with art lately. I am gathering inspirations for new art and making list of ideas. My sketchbooks are full of more interesting things which I never get around to instead of fairies. I've gotten all my pre-raphaelite poetry books together now in case I want to illustrate something. My problem is I usually feel like doing the easy thing instead and narrative work isn't easy but it's more fullfilling. There more Japanese stories, fairy tale heroines, furries and dragons I should be doing.
I've always wanted to publish a comic or graphic novel and lately I came up with another idea (which now makes 2) and did some character sketches. I don't know if it will go anywhere since I don't feel like writing a script for it right now. The idea has to ferment in my mind for a long time before all the little scenes in between will fill themselves in. So instead I went back to my online comic this week after almost a year. A few pages were finished and now I'm back to scripting. Since I have all these characters I thought I should be painting them too. The pictures may not mean as much to everyone else but as long as they are pretty I won't matter. I've finished one and will scan it today or tommorow.
Apparently it's Fairy Day today. I didn't even notice until someone else mentioned it. I googled it and found this, which is a shop I painted a logo for a few years ago.

Overlook
I was sick all last weekend, but finally felt well enough to get some art done by Tuesday. So, I got something done even with the kitty begging me to entertain her all day yesterday. I was constantly tossing mousies.
There are some new prints (Labyrinth Fairy, Purple Moon, and some ACEOs) in my Etsy shop. For local people, prints and cards are now available at Evenstar Books in St Paul.
Overlook - 8.5x11 watercolor. Click for prints.
